Overview
Planet Explorer in an archive of satellite imagery that includes daily imagery and weekly/monthly/quarterly basemaps. The first version of the product had two different timelines for imagery and basemaps.

Explored different ways to visualize time in a variety of use cases - daily imagery (some days without data), weekly mosaics, monthly mosaics, and quarterly mosaics.

Solution
The final design did not include the coverage line, play button, or compare button. The spacing between points indicated if the timeline was quarterly, monthly, weekly or daily. The timeline works most powerfully when a user has the left panel closed, so that they can tab left and right to navigate one time grouping of data, or tab up and down to switch between time groupings of data.
